We
need to be happy.
We need to so much sometimes that we lie to ourselves just to give ourselves hope that someday somehow we will get it like telling ourselves that happiness is a choice. All it takes for us to be happy is to make the decision to be happy. Then, like a comet raising on the evening sky, it will light up our sky and there you have it.
And how does that work?

All it takes for us to be happy is to make the decision to be happy. Then, like a comet raising on the evening sky, it will light up our sky and there you have it.
And how does that work?
Will the source of your sadness magically evaporate or melt? Or is it going to instantly reverse events that are causing your sadness? Is making the decision to be happy an adult version of Sant Clause or the reality version of a genie in a bottle?
Like all those fictional characters, hoping to be happy as soon as you decide to be is nothing but fiction. Decisions don't make anything happen instantly. Decisions are nothing but just that, a decision. Happiness can be achieved when you heal from the cause of your sadness. Healing is a long process. It involves forgiveness, acceptance, and learning. To get those things in its deep true sense takes time. Often, you have to make more mistakes before you complete get it.
No, the decision to be happy is not some magical dust that changes your life.
It's a step forward, yes. But it's not a leap that will take you to the finish line.
